Year 7 admissions
Harris Academy Battersea will admit 180 students each year. We have 180 places in Year 7 in September 2025 and welcome students of all abilities and from all backgrounds.
Applications for places will be made in accordance with local authority admission arrangements and will be made on the Common Application Form provided and administered by the local authority. The Academy will work to the common admissions timetable agreed by Wandsworth Council. Admissions must be made via Wandsworth Council only and not directly to Harris Academy Battersea. Your application must be received by 31 October 2024.
The Local Authority notifies parents about successful applications to Secondary School on 3rd March 2025.
Student data collection form
Click HERE to view and complete online the HABS Secondary Admissions Student Data Collection Form. The form is to be completed at the induction evening. Dates and times for the evening will be confirmed in the letter sent to parents/carers following the offer of a place at the academy.
In-year applications (new students)

The academy coordinates in-year admissions for students wishing to join the academy mid-year. Parents/guardians should apply directly to the academy. If you would like to make an in-year application, please click the link below to complete the form:
In Year Admissions Application Form
On receiving your application form, your child will be invited in for an interview and further information will be requested. Should there be no vacant positions available, your child will be placed on the waiting list in accordance with the oversubscription criteria found in the admissions policy.
Sixth Form admissions
If you wish to apply for a place in our sixth form, please complete the application form downloadable from our sixth form How to Apply page.
Sixth Form entry requirements for 2024/25 are:
- Grade 7 or high 'B' grades to study most A-Levels
- Grade 5 or high 'C' grades to study most vocational subjects.
There are individual exceptions that vary by subject and should you be interested in applying to our academy then we would be more than happy to discuss these with you.
Secondary transfer appeals
All applicants will know the outcome of their application for a Secondary School Place on 3rd March 2025, National Offer Day.
Parent(s) wishing to appeal against the Academy’s decision on admissions, for any year group, should complete an appeal form (downloadable from the bottom of this page) stating the reason for the appeal, based on the published admissions criteria.
The closing date for lodging appeals is 4pm on 31st March 2025.

All appeals received by 4pm on 31st March 2025 will be heard between end of April and June 2025.
The appeals will be heard in private by an Independent Appeal Panel. Appeals may be made in English or the parents’/carers’ first language. Only one appeal per application is allowed. Appeals are conducted in person, and you may bring a friend.
The appeal hearing
The Academy will arrange for an Independent Appeals Panel to consider the Academy's reasons for refusal and your reasons for wanting to attend the Academy. The panel will consist of three people (two will have education experience and one will be an independent person with no education experience).
The panel will consider the case put forward by you and the Academy. They must consider the admission arrangements for the Academy and the reasons why you want to attend that particular school. The panel must exercise its discretion by balancing the weight of your argument (for wanting to attend) against the Academy’s reasons for refusal i.e. the prejudice that one more student would cause to the education of the students already offered and the health and safety of all the students already attending the Academy, also taking into account the Academy's published admission arrangements.
The decision of the Independent Appeals Panel is binding on the admissions authority and the parents.
