HABS Celebrates Year 7 Spelling Bee Success
Congratulations to our Year 7 Spelling Bee team, who came a magnificent second in the Harris Federation Spelling Bee competition yesterday, in a competition with 14 other schools.
After a bit of a nervous start, the team got a second wind and battled their way from 7th to 2nd place, nearly unseating the reigning champions, Sutton, who just held on.
This is a massive achievement, so congratulations to Troy, Mansoor, Najmo and Yaj (pictured). Not only were they awesome spellers but were also really supportive of their fellow students in Invictus Croydon. They really embodied the school values of Knowledge, Integrity and Resilience.
Students began by spelling collaboratively in the team round, and then each student stood alone, spelling as many words as possible in 90 seconds, followed by a last-student-standing round.
Our hosts, Harris Academy Sutton, and all the attending schools created a very supportive environment filled with lovely young people who enjoyed getting together to spell anything put before them!
