Year 11 Trip to Oxford
14 of our high attaining Y11 students visited Jesus College, Oxford University for a taster day. We enjoyed a tour of the city including its stunning libraries and historical architecture as well as a visit to Jesus College where the students had lunch in the great hall under an original portrait of Queen Elizabeth I. This was followed by a tour of New College (one of the oldest if all of the university colleges). The students were delighted to explore the cloisters, chapel and grounds whilst also excitedly pointing out Harry Potter filming locations. After the tour we were welcomed to a lecture on Power which was thought provoking and students demonstrated their ability think critically. All students left inspired and knowing that a future place at Oxford University is very much a realistic aspiration for all of them with hard work and commitment to their studies.
Kaylan Caroopen said ‘This trip developed my understanding of how I can increase my academic potential - it’s enhanced my entire way of thinking’.
Valentina Sanna said ‘It was a very inspiring experience and I am grateful for the opportunity to see what my future could look like’.
We look forward to taking more of our students to both Oxford and Cambridge Universities to support with their future applications.
