Visit to Christie Auction House
On Monday 20th May, our high attaining year 9 students had the unique opportunity to visit Christie’s auction house in central London. This trip was both educational and inspiring, providing us with a rare glimpse into the world of fine art and high-stakes auctions.
From the moment we arrived, the grandeur of the building set the tone for the day.
"Walking into Christie's felt like stepping into a different world," said Hiba, one of our students. The elegant interiors and the array of priceless art pieces on display immediately captured our attention.
Our tour began with a brief history of Christie’s, delivered by an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. The guide explained how Christie’s has grown to become one of the world’s most prestigious auction houses, handling everything from ancient artifacts to contemporary masterpieces.
One of the highlights of the trip was visiting the viewing rooms where upcoming auction items were displayed. We were astonished by the variety and quality of the pieces. The room was filled with an eclectic mix of art, each piece with its own story and significance.
We also had the chance to witness a live auction in progress. The fast-paced bidding and the tension in the room were palpable. This experience gave us a firsthand look at the dynamics of art sales and the competitive nature of the auction world.
Overall, our trip to Christie’s auction house was an unforgettable educational experience. It not only broadened the students understanding of the art world but also inspired us to appreciate the intricate process behind art auctions.
