Year 8 Plan Wembley Arena Event
Two classes from Year 8 took part in an M&G Enterprise Challenge recently, delivered by The Talent Foundry.
The two classes were selected as a reward for the excellent effort and focus they had been putting into school over the last few weeks.
At the enterprise challenge, they had the opportunity to act as large-scale event organisers in charge of arranging a concert for 10,000 young people at Wembley Arena.
It was a great day of learning outside of the classroom, allowing students to work together in small groups, putting both their creative and maths skills to the test. The day ended with each team presenting their plan for the concert to the rest of the students, three teachers and a facilitator.
Some of the feedback from the students was that it helped them overcome their fears of public speaking, an opportunity that due to Covid they haven't had for over a year now.
Similarly, they enjoyed working in groups, and sharing ideas in a respectful way. For many this was the first time that they were able to experience first-hand how maths could be applied in the real world.
