Students Dive into Democracy: From Supreme Court to Parliament
Students sat in the chairs of the Supreme Court Justices before sitting in on a hearing in the court and looking around an exhibition including a copy of the Magna Carta. In Parliament, students went on a tour of the building, bumping into Baroness Brady, listening to Bridget Phillipson give answers to MPs in Education questions in the House of Commons Chamber and watching Baroness Lawrence from the Strangers Gallery in the House of Lords.
They then had the opportunity to speak to a range of different people who worked in parliament and learn about the different career options they could explore before finishing off with a Question and Answer session with local MP Marsha De Cordova’s assistants.
The students really enjoyed the opportunity to see politics in action and were impeccably behaved and engaged throughout, earning praise from the organisers for their interest.
