HABS goes to Paris: A 3-Day Journey of Culture, Language, and History
In February, a group of 40 students from Years 9-11 embarked on a memorable 3-day trip to Paris to immerse themselves in French culture, history, and language. The journey began on the Eurostar with a very early start at 5am, followed by some well-deserved rest as the group made their way to the City of Lights.
Upon arrival, the group hopped on a coach to the vibrant Montmartre district, walking in the footsteps of legendary artists like Picasso, Van Gogh, and Modigliani. Students had the chance to practice their French at a local food stall, where they ordered a variety of delicious French specialities such as crepes and waffles. After a busy first day, they returned to their accommodation, enjoying a spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower’s light show from our balcony while dining on tasty French fare.
Day 2 was packed with culture! They kicked things off with a visit to the iconic Louvre Museum, where students participated in a treasure hunt to discover famous works of art, including the world-renowned Mona Lisa. A stroll down the Champs-Élysées followed, where students marvelled at the grandeur of the Arc de Triomphe (and the Paris Saint Germain shop!). After such an enriching day, the group wrapped up the evening with a traditional game of pétanque (French boules) near the Eiffel Tower. On the final morning, they were fortunate enough to visit the Notre Dame Cathedral, where students were among the first to see the newly reopened building since the fire of 2019.
The trip was an unforgettable blend of learning, language practice, and of course, delicious food. A bientôt, Paris!
