Learning about the 1981 Uprising at the Black Cultural Archives

Thirty students in Years 8 and 9 visited the Black Cultural Archives in Windrush Square, Brixton, yesterday.

They enjoyed participating in a session on the 1981 Uprising. Students analysed sources from the time to understand the causes of the uprising as well as the impact it had on the black community and relationships with the police. They were very engaged and a credit to the academy throughout.
